Champions Week: Equipping Disciple-Makers

Finally, after two years of not being able to hold this event, we were overjoyed to hold a Champions Week. During this week, we celebrate with our disciples and mentors their accomplishment of completing the discipleship program. Not only that, but we also challenge them to pass on what was invested in them. Our mission verse for our discipleship program has always been Timothy 2:2. “And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”

A few weeks ago, we gathered with around 40 of our dedicated youth to celebrate, fellowship, and learn together how to be better disciples of Christ every day. In the past, we held this event over a weekend. However, this year we decided that we needed a whole week to further train and equip these disciples and mentors.

A Long-Awaited Event

During the week, we gave out our new discipleship manual that has been in the works for a long time. We were so excited for them to finally be able to use it as they mentor new disciples. It serves as a theoretical and practical guide as they walk through our 12 step discipleship program with their disciples. In addition, the manual covers ideas such as how to build a relationship with your disciple and the dos and don’ts of discipleship. It also covers topics such as Biblical evidence of why and how we are to disciple based on the example of Jesus and other useful resources. This manual was a group effort by many members of our team and we are extremely grateful for their time and effort spent making this manual and these steps the best they can be.

Joined by Our Dear Friend

It was a joy to have our dear friend, Mr. Keith, return to Romania for this week. This was his second time being here for a Champions Week. He is passionate about discipleship and we always look forward to any time he is able to come and challenge our youth on disciple-making. During the week, he led many sessions on the example Christ gave us for discipling others. In addition, he also preached at our local church partner’s Sunday service. As always, he was a blessing to our ministry and our youth and we are always thankful for when he sacrifices his time to be with us.

Our Mission with Discipleship

Our ministry’s goal is always to equip the young people of the church to be disciple-makers in their own circles and churches. Therefore, this event is at the heart of this mission. Looking to the future, we are encouraged by the development and passion of these youth. They are eager to learn and ask questions. They are jumping at the opportunity to disciple their friends and they are leaders in their churches. God is at work in their lives and it is our joy and honor to help lead them closer to God’s calling on their lives to be disciple-makers!

However, we can only continue to do this with your help. Would you consider coming for our next Champions Week like Mr. Keith? In addition, we are looking for partners to support the cost of printing our discipleship manuals and discipleship steps and mailing them across the country to our new mentors and disciples. You can always find out more about how we conduct our discipleship ministry on the discipleship page of our site.
